Our History

A Roadside Treasure Since 1937

Nestled in the scenic beauty of Southeastern Ohio’s Zanesville, the historic Baker’s Motel was charmingly crafted in 1937. As we celebrate 89 years of timeless hospitality, we remain dedicated to the traditions of the American roadside motel.

A Legacy of Family Ownership

For over 45 years, Gary and Teresa Golden have lovingly upheld a tradition of spotlessly clean, budget-friendly accommodations. We are one of the few remaining independent, family-owned motels left on the National Road, welcoming travelers to the heart of quaint Norwich, Ohio.

The National Road & Zane Trace

Norwich, Ohio, was once a vital stagecoach hub along the historic Zane Trace National Road. Visitors can still explore preserved sections of the original Trace winding through the village, offering a tangible link to the past. The National Road/Zane Grey Museum, located just across the street, provides a comprehensive historical experience of the pioneering trailblazers who forged America’s first western corridor.
